Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has hinted at Ujpest star Vincent Onovo being involved in some capacity in today's friendly against Cameroon at Stadion Wiener Neustadt.
The former Inter Turku midfielder was handed a late call-up as a replacement for William Troost-Ekong who has withdrawn from the roster after sustaining an injury in the first of the two friendlies last Friday.
A long-time supporter of Manchester United, Onovo is delighted to rub shoulders with Premier League stars Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi during the Super Eagles workout on Monday.
Speaking to allnigeriasoccer.com at the end of training on Monday, Onovo said : "My first training was today, it was good, I met big players in the team so it was nice to train with them.
"I am a defensive midfielder, the quality that I will bring to the team is that I'm strong in the midfield, I want to show myself and help the team beat Cameroon".
Predominantly a defensive midfielder, Onovo is also capable of playing as a central defender and attacking midfielder.
The 25-year-old featured in the qualifying rounds of the Europa League during his time with Finnish giants HJK Helsinki., back in the 2017-2018 season.
