Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi has reaffirmed his commitment to Olympique de Marseille despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future at the Ligue 1 side.
Nnadi, who joined Marseille during the winter transfer window, endured a difficult start to life in France and was recently linked with a possible departure from the club after struggling for regular playing time in his early months at the Stade Vélodrome.
However, Nnadi’s fortunes have improved significantly in recent weeks as injuries and fitness concerns within the squad opened the door for more opportunities in the first team.
The Nigerian has taken full advantage, delivering a string of encouraging performances and registering an assist in his last two appearances against Nantes and Nice.
Speaking ahead of Marseille’s clash against Le Havre, Nnadi opened up on his future at Olympique de Marseille, expressing his determination to cement his place at the club on a permanent basis.
"I don't know what the future holds, but I want to stay and prove that I belong to this club," Nnadi said via L'Equipe. "I deserve to be here. I think I've reached the most difficult point.”
The midfielder also insisted he is not feeling weighed down by pressure despite the uncertainty surrounding his situation at the club.
"As far as I'm concerned, I don't think there's much pressure. It's the reality of the situation; we have to experience things to the fullest, enjoy ourselves, work hard, and that's all.
"I feel good, I'm playing, so that's the most important thing for me. I'm happy to be here, I'm grateful for every opportunity I get.
"As a player, I think it's really great to play at the Vélodrome, and I want to be able to do it as much as possible."
Nnadi also addressed Marseille’s recent decision to keep players at the training ground for extended periods following a run of disappointing results.
“Staying at the training ground is like being at home for me, because I live alone. It's the director's decision; we're footballers, we have to accept it," he noted.
"This is the situation we're in now, but we're continuing to work hard. We've spent four nights here; I think there's a reason for that.
"Right now, the only thing we can do is stick together. For the last two games, I can't promise anything, but I can say that we're going to go out there and fight to get the result."
Nnadi will be eager to maintain his impressive recent form and help Marseille finish the season strongly with only a few matches remaining in the campaign.
