Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that former captain of the Flying Eagles, Andrew Uwe is being considered for a role in Abdu Maikaba's backroom staff, while ex-Super Eagles defensive midfielder Sani Kaita has emerged as a leading candidate for a position with the Golden Eaglets coaching setup.
The Nigeria Football Federation have already confirmed the appointments of of Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of the U20 and U17 Boys National Teams respectively.
Uwe was a key member of the Super Eagles squads that reached the finals of the 1988 and 1990 Africa Cup of Nations, delivering standout performances in defence throughout both tournaments.
Before his promotion to the Super Eagles, Uwe captained a talented Flying Eagles side to a bronze medal finish at the 1985 Fifa U20 World Cup
During his playing days, Uwe wore the colours of Leventis United, Iwuanyanwu National, KSK Roeselare, SV Wehen, VfB Oldenburg, LR Ahlen, BV Cloppenburg and Houston Dynamo.
The Nigerian Football Federation have drawn up a shortlist of coaches to assist Abdu Maikaba, including Uwe and Monday Odigie, with Maikaba given the freedom to select his preferred backroom staff from the list.
