Nigeria international Igoh Ogbu has returned to Slavia Prague following his involvement with the Super Eagles at the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The central defender featured in three matches during the tournament in Morocco, including Nigeria’s third-place play-off victory over Egypt, which was decided by a penalty shoot-out.
Ogbu had initially been considered a doubt for the competition due to fitness concerns, having spent three months on the sidelines with a persistent hamstring injury.
However, he rose up the centre-back pecking order, following the international retirement of former captain William Troost-Ekong and an injury to Brentford loanee Benjamin Fredrick.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Slavia Prague's UEFA Champions League encounter with Barcelona, manager Jindřich Trpišovský confirmed that Super Eagles centre-back Ogbu has returned to training in time for the highly anticipated clash with the La Liga giants.
"Igoh also returned after the successful championship, he was out of the team for a while, but he is already training. Apart from the players who are not on the roster, the squad is complete," Trpišovský stated.
Ogbu made his Champions League debut during Slavia's 3-0 loss away to Tottenham Hotspur on December 9.
