Everton manager David Moyes has warned fans against placing heavy expectations on teenage forward Tyrique George as the Toffees prepare to face Bournemouth on Tuesday.
George joined Everton in the winter transfer window after finding regular opportunities hard to come by at Stamford Bridge.
Despite his limited game time at Chelsea, the youngster made a positive first impression on his Everton debut, playing a key role in the club's 2–1 comeback victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Moyes said he has been encouraged by what he has seen from George in training but urged caution.
"I am seeing a bit of him which I like but again he's a young player," he said. "He's still a young boy. So, we have to be careful and we don't expect too much from him."
The former Manchester United manager stressed that George's level of experience cannot be likened to that of Jack Grealish, who arrived from Manchester City in the summer.
"It is not as if we are getting a Jack Grealish and we would be saying we have got somebody who has played 300 or 400 games or somebody who knows how to play on the big occasions," he warned.
Moyes stressed that the 19-year-old is still developing and adapting to his new environment following his January move from Chelsea.
"He's someone who is still going to get used to the players and the club but what he's showing at the moment, we have been quite impressed by it," he said.
The teenage forward made his debut against Fulham, coming on in the 69th minute to replace Harrison Armstrong with Everton still trailing.
His introduction shifted the momentum in the visitors' favour, as the Toffees went on to score twice through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and an own goal from Bernd Leno to seal the victory.
