Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that Atalanta's teenage sensation Honest Ahanor has made a decision over his international future ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Born in Aversa, Italy, to Nigerian parents, the former Genoa youth teamer became eligible for Italian nationality upon attaining the age of majority on February 23, 2026.

It is understood that Ahanor is prioritising an invitation to Italy's senior national team and will turn down approaches from the Nigeria Football Federation.

Despite his tender years, the versatile central defender has demonstrated he has come of age by making an impressive 25 appearances in all competitions for Atalanta since the start of the campaign.

Italy national team manager Gennaro Gattuso is closely monitoring the Nigerian centre-back as he finalises his squad for next month's World Cup playoff against Northern Ireland.

Last weekend, the AC Milan legend was present at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo, where he observed Ahanor during the closing stages of the contest after the youngster was introduced in the 84th minute.

In recent days, Ahanor has been linked with Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Chelsea, while Manchester City are also reported to be tracking his progress.
