Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton spoke on Sky Sports during Fulham’s clash with Manchester City, highlighting the moment that led to Samuel Chukwueze’s first Premier League goal on Tuesday night at Craven Cottage.
In the 72nd minute, the AC Milan loanee walloped a shot into the bottom corner after Timothy Castagne’s pass into the box was poorly cleared by Bernardo Silva, falling kindly into the path of the Nigeria international.
Sutton identified a critical error from the Manchester City captain that allowed the opportunity for Chukwueze to strike.
“Fulham have been passing with real purpose in this second half,” Sutton was quoted as saying by The BBC.
“It’s careless from Bernardo Silva. The ball just sits up, it’s waiting to be hit – and boy, does [Samuel Chukwueze] hit it!”
Chukwueze has begun to enjoy a new lease of life after a difficult spell at AC Milan, with the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup winner registering four goal involvements in his last three Premier League appearances.
He has been named in Eric Chelle's 54-man provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco.
