Sevilla winger Chidera Ejuke expressed his disappointment following the team’s 2-1 loss to Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium, emphasizing that the performance deserved more but insisting the squad must quickly shift their attention to the crucial fixtures ahead.
Speaking after the match, Ejuke highlighted the volume of opportunities created and the team’s inability to capitalize on them.
“We created many chances and only scored one goal. It’s hard to believe,” he told the club's official website, reflecting on Sevilla’s repeated incursions into the Espanyol penalty area.
Despite the defeat, the former CSKA Moscow player underlined the positives from the performance.
"Even so, we played well. We have to build on this and start thinking about the next match."
With El Gran Derbi approaching, Ejuke stressed the importance of moving forward with determination and unity.
He described the upcoming home fixture as pivotal, noting the responsibility the players feel to respond strongly in front of their supporters.
"Now we have a very important game coming up, we're playing at home and we have to do everything we can to win,” he stated.
Ejuke also addressed the broader objective for the squad as they navigate a demanding stretch of the season.
According to him, Sevilla must continue developing their collective structure and approach each match with renewed intensity.
“We need to grow as a team and give it our all to get that victory,” he said, reiterating the need for improvement in decisive moments.
Sevilla will host Real Betis in their next Spanish LaLiga game on Sunday, November 30.
