Jordan's Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami has explained the rationale behind the Nashama's upcoming international friendly against Nigeria, highlighting the importance of exposing his squad to diverse footballing style.
As part of preparations for their first appearance at the Fifa World Cup, Jordan will face Costa Rica at Mardin Stadium in Antalya on March 27, before taking on the Super Eagles at the same venue on the evening of March 31.
The national team held a training session on Monday evening at the Regnum Karya training ground in Antalya, with Sellami overseeing proceedings as 22 of the 26 invited players took part.
According to the Jordan Football Association's official website, the coach used the session to underline the significance of the training camp, describing it as a crucial stage in the team’s World Cup preparations.
He noted that facing different opponents, including Costa Rica and Nigeria, would help improve the team's tactical flexibility and ability to adapt to varying styles of play on the international stage.
Jordan have called up three goalkeepers, seven defenders, nine midfielders and seven forwards for the friendlies against Nigeria and Costa Rica.
Among the standout names is Musa Al-Taamari, who is enjoying an impressive campaign with Stade Rennais.
The forward has registered 11 goal involvements (4 goals and 7 assists) in 29 appearances across all competitions this season.
