Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers faced the cameras on Thursday before his side's English Premier League meeting with Manchester City at the King Power Stadium and one of the questions he was asked was the possibility of Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy playing together upfront given the caliber of the Citizens.
The Nigeria national teamer was in red-hot form before the international break, scoring seven goals in four matches in all competitions and was recognized by the Premier League with nominations for the Player of the Month and Goal of the Month accolades.
In the reverse fixture in September 2020, Iheanacho lasted only five minutes on the pitch as the Foxes beat Pep Guardiola's side handsomely.
Without giving his team news away, Rodgers said : "It just depends on the plan you are looking to put in place. We always look strategically going into every game and where we can gain the advantages against the opponents.
"You can't say they can't play together, if you are going to play them and you're finding that's your best source of creating and scoring goals then you have to then find a way to put them in the team, but both are playing very, very well.
"Jamie hasn't scored for a number of games, but his movement you see the quality of his assists - they've been first class - and what he gives the team, how he stretches the game that also gives Kelechi the spaces to play in.
"So they both link up very, very well and since they've played together they have been outstanding, so we'll what the game brings, and hopefully they can both play well if they play at the weekend".
Iheanacho was on the books of Manchester City for two and a half years before joining Leicester City in the summer of 2017.
