Teenage Nigerian striker joins Werder Bremen youth team from MSV Duisburg

Talented Nigerian striker Favor James-Omobude has joined German side Werder Bremen from MSV Duisburg ahead of the 2026–2027 season.

His representatives AM Sports Management have confirmed that the deal is finalised, with only an official announcement from the club still pending.

The 2010-born centre-forward is expected to formally link up with Werder Bremen this summer when the transfer window reopens, beginning his journey with the club's U17 team, who compete in the U17 DFB-Nachwuchsliga – Hauptrunde Liga A.

Omobude was accompanied by his family during the signing ceremony, marking an important milestone in his young career.

Regarded as a promising attacking talent and a signing for the future, he is also eligible to represent Spain at international level.

In his final campaign with MSV Duisburg, Omobude featured in seven matches in the U17 DFB Youth League – Main Round League B, registering two assists against Hennef 05 and Arminia Bielefeld.

At senior level, Werder Bremen currently boast a number of players with Nigerian connections, including Super Eagles stars Victor Boniface and Felix Agu, as well as Isaac Schmidt and Wesley Adeh.
