In a very eventful La Liga game at the Ciutat de València on Sunday, Apil 18, Samuel Chukwueze was outstanding as Villarreal registered an impressive 5-1 road win against Levante.
Villarreal had an early chance to open the scoring in the seventh minute but Chukwueze was denied by a brilliant save from goalkeeper Aitor Fernández.
In the second half, Paco Alcácer teed up the Nigeria international who swept home his first goal in La Liga since November and he wrapped up the scoring when he raced clear to slot home a superb finish after he was released by Dani Parejo.
Former Barcelona fullback Albert Ferrer revealed that Levante were punished for their bravery as they were ripped apart
for opting to play a highline, allowing space for the pacy winger
Chukwueze to do damage.
Speaking to La Liga TV after the game, Ferrer said : "What happened is that Emery decided to go purely on the counter attack today and he put Gerard Moreno and Samuel Chukwueze.
"These two players, apart from the quality of Gerard, if Samuel can find spaces to run into, it's like giving him space to finish.
"Samuel found spaces today, he ran into it and on top of that the finishing was good and that was the story of the game.
"For me Levante with the ball were better but Villarreal used their advantages better".
Chukwueze has directly participated in 11 goals (4 goals, 7 assists) in 2020-2021, his joint-best in a single-season since his promotion to Villarreal's first team.
