Glasgow Rangers are looking strong in defence ahead of the upcoming season, having kept clean sheets in all their four pre-season games so far.
The Light Blues' defence is expected to be even stronger following the recent capture of experienced Nigeria center back Leon Balogun who has come up against some of the best strikers in the English Premier League, Bundesliga and on international duty with the Super Eagles.
Speaking after Saturday evening's 2-0 win against Coventry City, manager Steven Gerrard highlighted that the signing of Balogun should bring out the best in the Rangers defenders.
"We are delighted to get Balogun because it's another real strong option for us, and he'll challenge the people that have got the shirt, and that's what I want," Liverpool icon Gerrard said to Rangers TV.
"I want real competition for places because hopefully that'll bring the best and consistency out in individual players."
Balogun, who has inked a one-year deal with Rangers, will begin training with his new teammates on Monday, July 27.
