Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi shared his thoughts on today's crucial 2019 U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya at the Stephen Keshi Stadium at the end of the team's last workout.
The red-hot Royal Excel Mouscron striker is positive about the Dream Team VII's chances of making it to the third round of qualifiers in June 2019 despite a 2-0 deficit to overturn.
''For me if they can be able to score two goals at home, I believe we are also in our home, we should be able to do it also and we will deliver by the special grace of God,'' said Awoniyi to reporters.
''For me to be in the national team is a privilege for every player, I have to focus in the U23 and if hopefully in the future I have the chance in the Super Eagles, I will be grateful to God.
''But for now, the only thing in my mind is to qualify the country for the Olympic Games.''
Three areas of the Nigeria U23s squad have been strengthened with
the addition of goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, central defenders Chidozie
Awaziem and Valentine Ozornwafor, and striker Victor Osimhen, while the
likes of Kingsley Michael, Orji Okonkwo and David Okereke are available
for selection after missing the first leg due to their late arrival in
Tunisia.
