Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman delivered a standout performance on Wednesday night, scoring and assisting as Atalanta sealed a commanding 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at the Deutsche Bank Park in the UEFA Champions League.
Lookman, who has endured a difficult start to the campaign, broke the deadlock for the Bergamo side early in the 60th minute after a tightly contested first period ended without a goal.
The Nigerian forward expertly converted from close range following a precise delivery from Charles De Ketelaere, giving the Bergamo side the momentum they needed.
The 28-year-old soon turned creator, setting up Brazilian midfielder Éderson José dos Santos to double Atalanta's advantage, while De Ketelaere later added a third, capping off an imposing display and sending the traveling supporters into celebration.
The win significantly boosts Atalanta's chances of securing automatic qualification to the Round of 16.
Atalanta now sit 10th in the Champions League standings with 10 points from five matches, level on points with eighth-placed Sporting Lisbon, who also claimed victory on the night against Club Brugge.
For Lookman, the goal marks a welcome return to form after a challenging start to the season.
His strike in Frankfurt takes his tally to two goals in 12 appearances across all competitions, and the Nigerian will be eager to build on the performance as Atalanta turn their attention to domestic action this weekend.
