Ademola Lookman is set to undergo medical tests after
picking up an injury concern during Atlético Madrid’s Copa del Rey final
outing, leaving the club anxiously awaiting results ahead of their
return to training.
According
to a report by Marca, the Super Eagles forward will be examined on
Monday after he was forced off at La Cartuja with what has been
identified as an adductor problem.
Atlético resumed preparations still
assessing the physical toll the final took on the squad, with concerns
also surrounding Marcos Llorente and Alexander Sorloth following knocks
sustained during the match.
However,
Lookman’s situation is currently viewed as the most serious. The
Nigerian attacker had been one of Atlético’s standout performers before
his withdrawal, delivering an impressive display in the first half.
He
not only found the back of the net but also consistently troubled his
marker, Aramburu, with his movement and attacking threat.
Lookman
was eventually substituted in the 62nd minute after appearing to
struggle physically.
Initial assessments indicate a strain in his
adductor muscle, though the full extent of the injury remains unclear
pending further medical evaluation.
The
club is expected to conduct an MRI scan to determine whether there is
any significant damage.
Atlético are hopeful that the results will not
reveal a severe issue that could sideline the forward during a crucial
stage of the season.
Lookman has already registered seven
goals and four assists in 18 appearances, emphasizing his importance to
Atlético’s attacking options.
