Nigeria captain Asisat Oshoala has been left out of Barcelona Women's training camp in Algorfa, where the squad will stay for ten days preparing for the new season.
Jonatan Giráldez, new Barcelona coach, has taken twenty-three players to the training camp, consisting of sixteen players from the first team and seven from the youth teams.
The European champions were silent on the whereabouts of their Nigerian star, only stating that injured trio Ingrid Engen, Andrea Pereira and Cata Coll who were not included in the traveling party will join the team later.
Catalan daily sports newspaper, based in Barcelona, L'Esportiu, has cleared the air surrounding the mysterious absence of Oshoala, saying the Super Falcon is not in the squad after contracting coronavirus.
The four-time African Women's Footballer of the Year did not authorize Barcelona to disclose her medical condition to the public.
Barcelona detected the positive case on Monday, in their first training session in pre-season, and since then Oshoala has been isolating at home.
The Blaugranes will face Elche in their first friendly on August 4 at the Pinatar Arena (Murcia).
