Croatian Prva HNL side HNK Gorica confirmed the temporary signing of Nigeria underage international Muyiwa Olabiran, better known as Benito on Wednesday, September 1.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported on transfer deadline day that the Dynamo Kiev-owned winger put pen to paper on a deal that will see him play for HNK Gorica on loan for the remainder of the 2021-2022 campaign and HNK Gorica have confirmed as much, adding that he is in line to make his competitive debut in the next round of matches against NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac.
Negotiations that were very demanding took a long time before all the parties involved in the deal reached an agreement.
In his first words as a player of HNK Gorica after all the paperwork was completed, Benito told the club's official website : "I am very happy and satisfied to finally be here. HNK Gorica really wanted me and that is why I am especially happy to have become a part of this sports family.
"I hope that together we will be successful, that we will win and rejoice together. I repeat once again, I am really happy to have come".
He added : "Yes, it was really hard and time consuming all together. After I found out about Gorica's interest, I had to talk to the club and its representatives, we looked for a way to make everyone happy.
"In the end here I am, I came to the club that wanted me so much".
For the remainder of the 2021-2022 campaign, the Nigeria U23 international will be wearing the number 22 on the back of his jersey which is no coincidence.
On why he chose the number 22, Benito said : "I love double numbers! When I choose a number in a new club, I start from 11, and if it's not free, I go to 22, then 33, then 44 ...
"It's important that it's a double number. I wore 77 in Dinamo because everything was taken before that.
"Why? I always think, whatever you go to do, do it twice, give twice as much as you can. Well, that's the story of the number".
Benito represented Saxan Gagauz Yeri, Lokomotiv Tashkent, Luch Minsk and Tambov prior to his move to Dynamo Kiev last year.
