Exciting Nantes winger Moses Simon has called for calm ahead of the Super Eagles' eagerly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations opener against Egypt on January 11.
Egypt have in their ranks arguably the best player in the Premier League
at the moment, Mohamed Salah and manager Augustine Eguavoen's biggest headache will be to
tame the Liverpool sensation who has directly participated in 32 goals
(23 goals, 9 assists) this season.
The Super Eagles' chances of advancing from Group D may look easy on paper but things could become complicated if they lose to the Pharaohs in their opener.
"It's really exciting. Good teams, our first game is against Egypt and we know what it takes, last AFCON we came third and I believe we can go far," Simon said.
"Nigerians should keep calm because even we also are threat to them so they should watch and see how we play."
Of the 28 players Eguavoen has named in his finalized squad, fourteen participated at the last Africa Cup of Nations and he has a good mix of youth and experience.
"It was a good one for me and the team, we know each other for long. There are experienced players and there are non-experienced players in the Nations Cup.
"I believe it's a good thing to encourage each other."
Simon has set a target of the Super Eagles reaching at least the semifinals of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
