'No match is small' - Ex-Real Madrid midfielder urges Super Eagles to take Jordan friendly seriously

Former Real Madrid midfielder Mutiu Adepoju has called on the Super Eagles to approach their international friendly against Jordan with full seriousness, insisting that no match should be treated as insignificant.

The Super Eagles will face Jordan today after securing a 2–1 victory over Iran in their opening international friendly in Antalya, Turkey, on Friday afternoon.

Adepoju stressed the importance of seriousness in the encounter, insisting that such matches are crucial in building a strong and competitive team.

"There is no match that is small or friendly. If there is a friendly, it is a buildup to something and having a formidable team," Adepoju told allnigeriasoccer.com

"I expect the team in everything to be formidable. I expect the players to players to put everything and be serious about it."

When asked who should spearhead the attack between Akor Adams and Paul Onuachu, the former midfielder said the decision should depend on player availability and the coach’s discretion.

"Paul Onuachu is one of the players invited to the Super Eagles, so if he is playing, there is nothing bad about that. There have been inviting him and anybody that is invited is for them to play. So, if somebody is not available, somebody else is going to play," he added.

Adepoju also weighed in on speculation linking Onuachu with a potential move to the German Bundesliga, urging a balanced perspective on the striker’s current situation

"If he's in Turkey, what is wrong with it?" Adepoju questioned. "Osimhen is in Turkey and he is doing very well, so what is wrong with it."

"If Onuachu is playing in Turkey, should we be talking that before he play in Turkey he should be in the Bundesliga.

"If he feels being in Turkey is good for him, all well and good. But if he feels that, he is going to do well in Bundesliga, it is also okay."

Onuachu has been in outstanding form since rejoining Trabzonspor at the start of the season after his summer move from Southampton.

The Nigerian international has scored 21 goals and registered two assists in 24 league appearances, placing him at the top of the scoring charts in Turkey.

His impressive performances have fueled speculation about his future, with reports linking him to a potential move to the Bundesliga this summer.
