Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has urged Victor Osimhen to put his health above competitive pressure as the Yellow-Reds prepare for the Istanbul Derby against Fenerbahçe on Monday.
Osimhen, who picked up a muscle injury in Nigeria's 4-3 penalty shootout loss to DR Congo after a 1-1 draw in regulation time, is now pushing to be available for the clash with the Yellow Canaries at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
The Nigerian international has already missed Galatasaray's last two fixtures, against Gençlerbirliği S.K. and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Buruk issued a firm reminder to the 26-year-old and the rest of the squad to stay composed and avoid unnecessary risks in the Derby.
"No aggression. We will remain calm and finish the match with 11 men. We may be missing a lot, but if you experience a problem, think about your health first," Buruk stated.
He added that no player should feel pressured to stay on the pitch while injured.
"I'm aware that our team is missing a lot right now. However, if you experience pain or any other issues during a match, you don't have to hesitate to return to the bench.
"You need to think about your own health first. There's no need to harm yourself while trying to help the team. Of course, I have no doubt you'll do your best."
Osimhen has been outstanding since making the permanent move to Rams Park, scoring nine goals in twelve matches across all competitions.
His availability could prove decisive in a derby as the Yellow-Reds seek to secure a positive result against their fierce rival.
