Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have strengthened their ranks with the signing of Colombia World Cup star James Rodriguez from Real Madrid on a two-year loan deal.
The attacking midfielder had been linked with a transfer to the English Premier League, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal all credited with an interest.
"We're very happy about this transfer," Bayern Munich executive board chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said .
"James Rodriguez was Carlo Ancelotti's wish after both worked successfully together in Madrid. James is a versatile player, dangerous in front of goal, creates plenty and takes a good set-piece.
''We've really added to the quality of the squad with this transfer."
Bayern Munich have the option to buy James Rodriguez outright at the end of the 2018-2019 season.
