The Yellow and Reds have confirmed via their Twitter handle that they have held 'formal negotiations' with the Tofees over another temporary switch for the forward who spent time with Anderlecht last term.
Onyekuru scored nine goals in 19 league appearances for Anderlecht during that period but returned to Everton in January this year due to an injury which ruled him out for several months and subsequently, the World Cup.
The 21-year old joined Everton in June 2017 for a £7 million deal from AS Eupen.
Premier League club, Arsenal had earlier been linked with a move for the striker during his time with Eupen when he scored over 20 goals in the 2016/17 campaign.
