With a statement on the official website, Scottish Premiership giants Celtic have announced the signing of Junior Adamu on loan from SC Freiburg.
Born in Kano, Adamu is no longer eligible to represent the Super Eagles, having made a cap-tying appearance for Austria in a 2022 World Cup qualifier against Israel in November 2021.
Seeking regular playing opportunities, the 24-year-old has joined Celtic on a temporary deal until the end of the 2025–26 season.
Predominantly a centre-forward, Adamu will compete with Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho for a starting role at the Hoops.
Iheanacho has come off the bench in his last two appearances, after returning from a hamstring injury that kept him out for over six weeks.
Adamu joined Freiburg from RB Salzburg in the summer of 2023 and has since made 67 competitive appearances, scoring seven goals and registering four assists.
This season, he has featured nine times in the Bundesliga and a further nine times in cup competitions.
Last summer, Adamu visited the training pitch at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State to show his support for grassroots football initiatives.
