Dominic Iorfa has ended speculation about his future by signing a new contract at EFL League One club Sheffield Wednesday, informs the official website of the Owls.
Named after his father, who is a retired Super Eagles striker, Iorfa Jnr has put pen to paper on a contract until the end of the 2022-2023 season.
A former England U21 international, the central defender was offered fresh terms after returning to full fitness.
Iorfa, who suffered an Achilles injury against Barnsley in December 2020, has started every single game played by Sheffield Wednesday in League One in the new season, helping them register three wins and a draw.
Speaking after his new deal was confirmed, Iorfa said to the official website of Sheffield Wednesday : "I’m delighted to get it over the line and I can focus on the season ahead and the future.
"Everyone knows the club’s ambition this year is to get promoted and when I see everything that has happened over the last month or so, it feels like a really good place to be at the moment and that’s a big positive.
"The club is moving in the right direction and it’s something I am pleased to be a part of. Things are looking up, we’ve started the season well, the fans are back, there’s real optimism around the place and long may that continue."
A product of Southend United youth team, Iorfa joined Sheffield Wednesday in January 2019 after a six-year association with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
