With a statement on the club's official website, Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of England youth international of Nigerian descent, Owen Asemota.
The talented goalkeeper has joined Aston Villa's academy after rejecting a new contract at Arsenal.
Asemota has agreed a scholarship deal at The Lions and will be hoping to sign his first professional contract with the West Midlands club before the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Allnigeriasoccer.com reported exclusively ten months ago that Arsenal were seriously at risk of losing the promising Golden Eaglets-eligible to their Premier League rivals, adding that Aston Villa, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea were monitoring his situation.
Aston Villa's Academy manager Mark Harrison has confirmed as much, stating that the dual-national glovesman was highly sought after due to his profile and high potential.
The 16-year-old has very good athletic qualities and ball management skills, which suit Aston Villa's style of play.
Asemota will start his career at Aston Villa with the club's U18 team before he is gradually integrated into the U21 setup.
During his time with Arsenal, he was invited to train with the senior goalkeepers and has left the north London club after featuring in three matches in the U18 Premier League.
