Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has provided an update on Ademola Lookman's injury, confirming that the forward has yet to receive medical clearance ahead of Atlético Madrid's UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against Arsenal.
Lookman picked up the injury during the Copa del Rey final defeat to Real Sociedad, where he was forced off in the second half.
The Nigerian international has since missed La Liga fixtures against Elche CF and Athletic Bilbao, casting doubt over his availability for the crucial clash against Arsenal.
Speaking during his press conference against Arsenal, Simeone praised Lookman's impact, while admitting that Atlético Madrid will make a late decision on his fitness and recovery.
"Well, the truth is that his arrival has had a very positive impact on the team," he said at the pre-match press conference via Futbol Fantasy." He really does have some differentiating factors offensively."
"He's working much better on his defense. We'll see if he recovers well tomorrow, because he was still feeling some discomfort today. So we'll see if he can help us tomorrow or not."
Lookman has established himself as a key figure for Atlético Madrid since joining from Atalanta during the winter window.
The former African Footballer of the Year has scored two goals and provided two assists in six UEFA Champions League appearances, including a crucial strike in the second leg of the quarter-final clash against FC Barcelona.
His decisive strike helped Atlético Madrid book their place in the semi-finals, fending off a spirited comeback attempt from Barcelona after the 2-0 deficit at Camp Nou.
