Premier League club, Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the signing of highly rated forward Dapo Anunlopo, who has joined the club’s academy ahead of the close of the transfer window.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported three days ago that Wolverhampton Wanderers were on the verge of announcing the signing of the Irish-Nigerian youngster.
Wolves revealed that the 17-year-old forward has completed a move from Bromley and will initially link up with Wolves U18 team.
Anunlopo, who is eligible to represent Nigeria and Ireland at international level, caught the attention of Wolves’ recruitment team following a series of impressive performances in the Premier League Cup and FA Youth Cup.
His standout moment came in the FA Youth Cup, where he scored a stunning goal against Ipswich Town, further convincing the Midlands club to secure his signature.
Speaking on the signing, Wolves’ Head of Academy Recruitment, Harry Hooman, expressed delight at bringing the teenager to Molineux.
“Dapo hasn’t been at Bromley long, having moved over from Ireland, but he has really impressed us in the first half of the season and we have been monitoring his progress over the last few months. We really like what we see and believe he has huge potential,” Hooman said.
Hooman also highlighted the youngster’s playing style and attributes, adding: “He is a quick, direct and aggressive forward who can operate across the front line. We are always looking at clubs lower down the pyramid for players who are hungry to improve and develop”
“What stands out with Dapo is his athleticism and versatility, but also his desire to make things happen – we love how he carries the ball. He has really bought into our approach here at Wolves and we’re very excited to be working with him.”
Anunlopo is the second player of Nigerian descent to depart the club during the winter window, following centre-back Deji Elerewe, who joined Lincoln City on a permanent deal after his release clause was activated.
