Omilabu Scores His First Goal For Crystal Palace U23s In 1-0 Win Against Burnley

Promising striker David Omilabu scored his first goal for Crystal Palace U23 team as they registered a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Burnley in a Premier League 2 match at Selhurst Park on Monday afternoon.

The 18-year-old came off the bench to replace Alfie Matthews ten minutes into the second half - his second appearance for the Eagles at U23 level.

Four minutes from time, Omilabu tapped the ball home to give Palace the lead after Brandon Aveiro broke free into the Burnley defence.

The Anglo-Nigerian is close to earning a promotion to the U23s after impressing for the U18s in 2020-2021, with ten goals from eleven appearances, making him the third highest goalscorer in the league behind Tottenham Hotspur's Dane Scarlett (12) and Chelsea's Jude Soonsup-Bell (11).

In his final season as a schoolboy, Omilabu was involved in an astonishing 64 goals (41 goals, 23 assists) in 26 games for Crystal Palace youth teams.

The talented striker has not been capped by England youth teams and was on the radar of the Golden Eaglets chief scout before the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup.
