Onuachu suffers muscle injury, striker withdrawn from Trabzonspor's travelling squad to Alanyaspor

Paul Onuachu, who has been scoring goals consistently this season, has suffered a muscle injury and has been removed from the travelling squad to face Alanyaspor, Trabzonspor confirmed on Friday.

The Nigeria international striker is currently enjoying one of the best spells of his career, having found the net 24 times in 28 appearances for Trabzonspor this season.

His remarkable form has established him as a key figure for the club, accounting for 40 percent of Trabzonspor's goals in the Super Lig.

Trabzonspor will now have to cope without the 31-year-old for the time being following the latest setback.

The Claret-Blues disclosed on their official website that an injury was suspected after the player experienced discomfort during Friday's training session at the Mehmet Ali Yılmaz Facilities under the guidance of head coach Fatih Tekke.

Head of the Medical Board, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Beşir, explained that after an initial assessment, Onuachu had complained of pain and stiffness in the upper anterior thigh muscle group during training.

He added that a muscle injury was suspected, which led to the striker being withdrawn from the squad set to face Alanyaspor, while treatment had already commenced under the supervision of the club's medical team.

Meanwhile, Nigerian duo Anthony Nwakaeme and Chibuike Nwaiwu have been included in Trabzonspor's travelling squad and are in contention to feature against Alanyaspor.
