Turkish champions Galatasaray have identified Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika as one of their contingency options as they continue to explore several avenues to reinforce their midfield ahead of the close of the January transfer window.
The Istanbul club are assessing multiple profiles and have kept Onyedika on their shortlist should moves for higher-priority targets fail to materialise.
According to habersarikirmizi.com, manager Okan Buruk is extremely keen on signing Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye, although it is not believed that Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek is willing to meet the €40 million asking price.
Gueye made a splash at the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring the game-winning goal in extra time as Senegal defeated the hosts Morocco to be crowned champions.
Manchester United's Manuel Ugarte and Tottenham Hotspur's Yves Bissouma are both under consideration.
A potential loan move for Ugarte is viewed internally as an attractive solution, while Bissouma is s another name on the club's agenda as they assess different profiles and financial conditions.
If negotiations for Gueye, Ugarte and Bissouma fail to progress, Onyedika is expected to emerge as Galatasaray’s preferred option in their search for a defensive midfielder.
Under contract with Club Brugge until 30 June 2027, Onyedika scored two goals in five matches at Afcon 2025 and was named Man of the Match in Nigeria’s 3-1 victory over Uganda.
