Victor Osimhen has set his sights on equaling or breaking a 13-year-old record for the most goals scored by a Galatasaray player in a single Champions League season on Tuesday evening when the Turkish champions take on Serie A side Juventus at Rams Park.
The current club record is held by Burak Yılmaz, who netted eight goals during the 2012-13 campaign.
Yılmaz went on a run, scoring in six consecutive Champions League games, including a hat-trick against CFR Cluj in the group stage.
Osimhen has scored six goals in six Champions League appearances this season, with only Burak Yılmaz exceeding that tally in a single European campaign for Galatasaray.
The former African Footballer of the Year found the net in three consecutive group stage matches, once against Liverpool, twice against Bodø/Glimt, and a hat-trick against Ajax Amsterdam.
Despite a blistering start to this season's Champions League campaign, the Super Eagles star has gone goalless in his last three matches, failing to score against Monaco, Atlético Madrid, and Manchester City.
Osimhen has made seven career appearances against Juventus, scoring twice while producing two assists.
Galatasaray remain unbeaten in their last eight home Champions League matches against Italian sides, recording five wins and three draws.
