Osimhen and Fenerbahce GK in heated clash ahead of Intercontinental Derby kickoff

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was involved in a brief moment of tension with Fenerbahçe goalkeeper İrfan Can Eğribayat during the pre-match warm-up ahead of the Intercontinental Derby on Monday evening.

Osimhen, making his return to the starting lineup after a spell on the sidelines, began the game as Fenerbahçe came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against rivals Galatasaray at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.

Leroy Sané had put the visitors ahead in the first half, but Jhon Durán restored parity for the Yellow-Canaries to preserve their unbeaten run in the Turkish Super Lig.

However, the buildup to the derby took an unexpected turn when a video circulating on social media captured Osimhen pushing Eğribayat while appearing visibly agitated.

The Nigerian forward was seen gesturing for the goalkeeper to move back to the designated warm-up zone for his team.

The incident quickly drew the attention of players and staff from both sides, who intervened to prevent the confrontation from escalating.

Despite starting the match, Osimhen struggled to make a significant impact, further fueling scrutiny over his performances in crucial matches.

While the 26-year-old has maintained an impressive scoring record overall, his form against Turkey's top clubs; Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray, Beşiktaş, and Trabzonspor, has remained a concern.

Osimhen is yet to score against any of the league's top sides this season and managed just one goal and one assist across six appearances last term.

His subdued outing on Monday has once again raised questions about his influence in the crucial games, even as he continues to dominate against other opposition.
