Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has taken a significant step in his recovery, returning to the pitch for the first time since sustaining an injury during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Dessers, who was named in Nigeria’s final squad for the tournament, suffered the setback while preparing for the Eagles’ last group-stage fixture against Uganda.
The injury ruled him out of action at the biennial competition, denying him the opportunity to feature for the national team despite travelling with the squad.
Following the injury, the former Rangers striker returned to his club to begin his rehabilitation process. The setback, combined with his AFCON involvement, saw him miss six league matches.
Ahead of the upcoming clash against Athlitiki Enosi Larissa, the Nigerian international has now resumed light training, stepping onto the grass to begin running drills as part of an individual recovery programme.
The club confirmed the development on its official website, noting that the striker has commenced on-field work for the first time since the injury.
Since completing a summer move from Rangers, Dessers has made an immediate impact in Greece, scoring two goals and providing one assist in five league appearances before his injury setback.
