Pelican Stars Official: We Are Owing our Players
A top official at Pelican Stars has confirmed that the club owe players salaries for nine months.<br /><br />Reports are rife that the players are planning a boycott of next season’s Nigeria Women Premier League campaign in protest of their unpaid salaries.<br /><br />Sources had earlier debunked reports of a simmering boycott by the players but the official has confirmed the club owes the players.<br /><br />“It is true the state government owe players salaries for nine months, ” the source confirmed.<br /><br />“The club also owe players four-match bonus from last season too.<br /><br />“Governor of Cross Rivers State, His Excellency Benedict Ayade should come to the players rescue and pay their salaries and sign on fees, ” he added.<br /><br />The players of the Nigeria Women Premier League outfit are owed 100 percent of the sign on fees from last season and have not been paid nine-month salaries.<br /><br />
