Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that former Nigeria U17 international Akinkunmi Amoo has finally flown to Sweden, two months after his transfer was confirmed by Swedish Allsvenskan side Hammarby.
The exciting winger, nicknamed 'Little Messi', was stranded in Nigeria because the borders were closed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions applied to airlines.
To circumvent the difficulty of linking up with his new team, Hammarby, he had to travel to Cotonou, a city in neighboring country Republic of Benin, from where he flew to Paris by Air France on Saturday night.
From the French capital, he will fly to Stockholm, the city where Hammarby is based, on Sunday, August 9.
Amoo has been issued a Swedish residence permit, picked up in Abuja, so he can move freely within the Schengen Area.
The 18-year-old was sharpening up while in Nigeria ahead of a potential professional debut for Hammarby by undergoing a personalized training plan with one of the coaches at local club Shooting Stars, Ibadan.
The Sidos Academy product has inked a four-year deal with Hammarby who currently occupy the seventh position in the table after 13 rounds.
