2023 Flying Eagles invitee Ademola Ola-Adebomi was the star of the show as Crystal Palace registered a 2-0 win over Arsenal in a Premier League 2 match at Crystal Palace Training Ground on Friday afternoon.
Ola-Adebomi, Tayo Adaramola, David Ozoh and Victor Akinwale started for Crystal Palace, while another Flying Eagles invitee in Joel Ideho and central defender Zach Awe started for the Gunners, bringing the total number of players of Nigerian descent in action from the off to six.
Ideho had the first real chance of the game but put his effort wide after making a run from midfield.
In the 21st minute, Matt Smith fluffed a glorious chance of an Arsenal opener when he failed to convert from the spot.
The goal Palace fans had been waiting for arrived seconds before halftime when Ola-Adebomi glanced the ball past Arsenal goalkeeper Graczyk, side-footing it low into the net after an excellent cross from Adaramola.
Crystal Palace were almost two goals ahead eight minutes into the second half but Ola-Adebomi's effort went inches over the bar.
In the 66th minute, Ideho's free-kick from twenty yards was saved by goalkeeper Izquierdo.
With twenty minutes left on the clock, Crystal Palace got their second goal of the game through Ola-Adebomi, whose powerful left-footed shot from close range was destined to end up in the back of the net.
