Queens Park Rangers director of football, Les Ferdinand is backing Eberechi Eze to receive an England call-up ahead of the 2021 European Championship.
The Nigeria Football Federation and English Football Association are locked in a tug-of-war over the services of the attacking midfielder who was born in London.
Eze has been linked with a plethora of Premier League clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace, and a move to the top-flight of English football will enhance his chances of earning a call-up to the Three Lions.
"A lot of the time you need to be in the Premier League to be recognised but he has shown the kind of form and, if he continues to develop in the way he is developing and keeps showing the type of football he has been playing, he is certainly going to put himself in the frame," Ferdinand told Sky Sports News.
"People are going to start talking about him playing for England.
"He came through and we have got a few others at the club too. Bright Osayi-Samuel is doing extremely well, as is Ryan Manning at left-back. He is not English but he is in the Ireland set-up."
The 21-year-old Eze trained with the Super Eagles in London ahead of their friendly against Burkina Faso in March 2017, which was later cancelled.
He became provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth when he played the last nine minutes of an U21 EURO qualifier against Albania last November.
