Shola Shodiya Gives Excuses For Defeat To Qormi
Published: February 16, 2014
Shola Shodiya says Birkirkara were unlucky to lose 3 - 1 to Qormi in the quarter finals of the Malta FA Trophy on Saturday.
Paul Fenech put Birkirkara ahead in the 17th minute but an own goal by Alejandro Mendoza leveled matters before two further strikes by Grech and Cantoro sealed victory for Qormi, featuring Nigerian forward Alfred Effiong.
“You should understand how football is played. It was not only me that was unlucky, the whole team had no luck.
“We are always unlucky against Qormi. The same thing happened to us last season,” says Shola Shodiya to allnigeriasoccer.com.
22 - year - old Shodiya has scored in each of his last four games in the Premier League for table-topping Birkirkara.
