Abiola Dauda Delighted After Red Star Belgrade FINALLY Win The Title
Published: May 26, 2014
With a game to spare, Red Star Belgrade are the champions of Serbia after the 4 - 2 home win over OFK Beograd on Sunday.
Swedish - Nigerian forward Abiola Dauda, whose goals contributed to the success of the former European champions until injury limited his appearances, was delighted that the long wait for a trophy has finally come to an end.
“Great to finally win the league with Red Star. It has been a long season, a lot of ups and down in very difficult situations.
“But we came out on top and I think we deserved to be champions because we were the better side all season,”Abiola Dauda told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I think I had a great season even if I got injured with 9 games to go. I know I could have done better than 13 goals (in all competitions) and also help my team and make things easy more for us.
“I am so happy with my season and looking forward to the future.”
Today’s win ended Red Star Belgrade’s seven - year pursuit of a Super Liga title, and gave them their second title since they stopped competing in the Yugoslavian championship.
