Stoke City Forward Peter Odemwingie May Have Damaged Knee Ligament
Published: September 02, 2014
Through their official website, Stoke City have informed the public that Nigeria international Peter Odemwingie will be sidelined for an unspecified period due to a knee complaint he picked up against Manchester City.
The experienced striker had to make way for Jonathan Walters in the 46th minute at the Etihad Stadium , and there are fears he may have damaged his cruciate knee ligament.
“We thought we had concluded our incoming transfer business for this transfer window but we re-evaluated our plans after losing Peter to injury for the foreseeable future, ” Chief Executive Tony Scholes told stokecityfc.com.
Manager Mark Hughes added: “It’s unfortunate that we look like being without Peter for a while but following his setback we felt it was important that we moved to bolster the resources at our disposal.”
Morocco international Oussama Assaidi has been signed by Stoke City for the remainder of the season, as replacement for the former Bendel Insurance star.
Peter Odemwingie’s contract with Stoke City will run out in the next ten months.
