Nigeria Suffer First Afcon Qualifying Away Defeat In Four Years Following Loss To Sudan
Defending champions Nigeria suffered their first African Cup of Nations qualifying away defeat in four years after they were beaten 1 - 0 by Sudan on Saturday night in Khartoum.

Al Hilal striker Bakri Abdulqadir won the game for the home team when his bullet header went past Super Eagles skipper Vincent Enyeama in the 41st minute.

But Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder Nosa Igiebor was unlucky not to score the game’s opening goal in the 11th minute after seeing his effort come off the post.

John Obi Mikel thought he had scored his fifth international goal three minutes from time, but he got an offside call from the match officials after the ball had sailed into the net.

Under - fire interim Nigeria manager Stephen Keshi handed debuts to Aaron Samuel and Emmanuel Sunday.

In the earlier Group A match, South Africa defeated Congo 2 - 0 to leapfrog them at the top of the standings, with 7 points in the kitty after three rounds.

Nigeria, who are bottom of the group with 1 point, next tackle third place Sudan this coming Wednesday.
