Stefano Okaka Thrilled With Italy Call Up
Published: November 15, 2014
Stefano Okaka is thrilled to be handed an invitation for Italy’s upcoming exhibition game against Albania, and has expressed his joy on social media.
But there is hope for Nigeria if the Federation is interested in capping the Sampdoria star in future as that game is merely a friendly, even though he previously turned out for the Italy Under 21s.
“I am proud of myself. I went through terrible times, overcame difficult obstacles, but faced them all with my head held high.
“I’m proud of my family who were always close and proud of the extraordinary Samp fans who every Sunday make me feel like a lion.
“I dedicate this call-up to all of you and my loved ones... A new wonderful adventure begins!!!” Okaka said on Facebook.
The former Roma starlet was reportedly approached by the Nigeria Federation to represent the country at the 2014 World Cup, but manager Stephen Keshi denied that information when contacted.
