Alfasaria Force , Goshen Battle For President Cup
Published: December 23, 2014The final of the Nigerian National President Cup Championship, Lagos chapter will be held today (Tuesday) inside the Hockey pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere from 2pm local time.
Alfasaria Force FC will battle Goshen FC in the final game of the first edition of the tournament, also Stowel Academy will face Lucky Babes in the 3rd place fixture.
The President Cup Championship is organised by Youth Empowerment For Peace Foundation (YEP), a non-governmemtal foundation keen in developing the grassroots players and coaches, create jobs and develop sports infrastructure nation-wide.
The championship will be held across the 36 states from their local government, while the two finalists from each state will represent their state at the National level of the tournament.
The organiser has also revealed selected players and coaches from the championship will embark on a training tour in United Arab Emirate (UAE) and European tours.
“We are excited to reach this level of the tournament, it was a tough process because the tournament presented all the best teams in Lagos.
“We want to enjoy the final game before the National event and give our fans some good moment before the year wind off," Team manager of Alfasaria Force,” Akinbule Surulere said.
Head coach of Goshen FC, Abiodun Samuel believe his side will represent Lagos well at the National level.
“We are happy will made it to the final, but we are looking ahead. The future is more important, though I think we have been the better side from the championship.
“We want to keep our record intact and avoid defeat, we want to be our state champions,” Samuel said.
In the semi-final fixtures, Alfasaria Force defeated Stowe Academy 3-1, while Goshen FC edged past Lucky Babes 2-0.
