FCT Principal Cup Gets More Accolades; Calls For Mascot Design Entries
Published: July 08, 2015The Main Organizing Committee of 2015 FCT Principals Cup Football Competition has continued to receive more support from various organizations who descrbed the initiative as a genuine way of ensuring the grassroots developement of football in the Federal Capital Territory and the country in general.
The committee has been visiting various organizations and media houses in the capital city to solict for their support in ensuring that the Competition which is slated for the first week of October 2015 is a success.
It visited the FCT Chapter of All Confederation of Principals and Proprietors of Secondary School (ACOPPS) , the Board of the FCT Secondary Education, the Management of NTA24 Sports Channel and Cool/Wazobia/Nigeria Info FM all in Abuja.
Speaking at the visits, the Chairman of the Committee Patrick Ngwaogu who is also the Vice Chairman of the FCT Football Association said that his association was moved to organizing the competition following their resolve to ensuring that players who are in secondary schools in the Federal Capital Territory are given the opportunity to exhibit their skills.
He said that it is only through such competitions that players who are of the real age brackets can be discovered for the various junior national teams in the country.
During their visit to ACOPPS in Abuja, the Confederation promised to render all the needed assistance to ensure that the competition comes out successful.
They advised the various corporate organizations in FCT to embrace the competition, saying that the long run effects would supercede whatever they must have contributed into the competition.
They appealed to the committee to ensure that the various game masters of the schools are carried along in all the activities, and ensure all that all sorts of cheating associated with such competitions are discouraged.
The Chairman of FCT Secondary Education Board, Alhaji Moroof Akinwande while receiving the Committee members in his office promised that his office would help in mobilizing all the senior secondary schools in FCT to participate in the competition.
He advised the FCT FA to think towards forming an Academy, where players discovered would be further exposed for the future.
At the NTA24 studios in Abuja, the General Manager of the Station, Malam Abdulraham Ibn Mohammed said the management of his station would support the Committee in ensuring that the competition is well publicised.
He advised the Committee to make transparency and accountability their watchword all through the competition.
He said that the Corporate bodies have been reluntant in supporting such projects because of the inability of the organizers of such competitions in past to account for whatever they recieved from sponsors.
Receiving the Committee members in his station on Tuesday, the Head of Stations of Cool/Wazobia/Nigeria Info FM Mr. Uche Victor Nwaneri commended the FCT FA for coming up with the ideal of the Principals Cup.
He said that programme will surely be embraced by the all football lovers in the Federal Capital Territory, and beyond.
He promised that his three stations would be readily available to assist to market the competition, which the organizers said it is purely private sector driven for future sustainability.
Meanwhile, the Committee has call for entries into the Mascot Design Competition. According to the Committee Chairman, interested students of the various secondary schools are to submit their design on or before 15th August, 2015.
He also said that entry forms for schools willing to participate in the 2015 FCT Principal Cup Competition are now available at the Secretariat of the FCT Football Association, Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Garki Abuja. He said that registration is free.
