Fit Gbolahan Salami Confirms He Will Captain Super Eagles Against Burkina Faso
Warri Wolves striker Gbolahan Salami has dismissed reports that claimed he is carrying an injury and will miss the upcoming African Nations Championship qualifier against Burkina Faso.

Prior to joining the home - based Super Eagles camp, the attacker  was sidelined for three weeks due to injury before returning to action on October 3, netting a hat - trick in his team’s 3 - 0 rout of Sunshine Stars in the NPFL.

“I am fine and I am not injured. I played the friendly yesterday, there was no training and I will train with the team today, ” says Gbolahan Salami to allnigeriasoccer.com.

It is being speculated that Salami will skipper the Super Eagles against Burkina Faso, and the 24 - year - old confirmed as much when asked to react to those reports.

 “The coaches have told me I am the captain. I think everything will be fine against Burkina Faso, we are ready to play the game.

 “Everybody knows what is at stake, we are all working hard for the country and we want to win the game,” Salami added.

Gbolahan Salami has netted 14 times in the Nigeria Professional Football League so far this season.
