Hope Akpan Has Mixed Feelings After Ending 3,458 - Minute Long Goal Drought
Super Eagles midfielder Hope Akpan has mixed feelings about scoring his first goal in the Championship for close to two years.

The Anglo - Nigerian scored his first goal in Blackburn Rovers colours in their 2 - 2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Ewood Park but was disappointed that his team surrendered their one - goal lead six minutes from time.

“Would have been sweeter if we got the 3 points but nevertheless happy to get my first @OneRovers goal and cheeky mom,” Akpan said on Twitter on Saturday night.

The summer arrival from Reading has started and finished the last six games played by Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.

Prior to scoring in the fifth minute against Sheffield Wednesday, Akpan had not hit target in the Championship since he found the net in Reading’s  7 - 1 hammering of Bolton Wanderers on January 18, 2014, a goal drought that stretched to  3,458 minutes.
