Fanendo Adi Says FC Dallas Put Up A Fight Against Portland Timbers
Portland Timbers survived a late scare to advance to the final of the MLS Cup Final after playing out a 2 - 2 draw with FC Dallas in the second leg of their Western Conference Championship series.<br /><br />Nigerian striker Fanendo Adi netted his 18th goal in the MLS this term in the 54th minute but the home team turned the screw, scoring through <span class=\"name\">Ryan Hollingshead and </span><span class=\"name\">Blas Perez before </span><span class=\"mr4\"> </span> <span class=\"name\">Lucas Santiago Melano restored parity for Timbers in the 90th minute. <br /><br />Adi was delighted that the Oregon - based outfit qualified for the final but admitted that Dallas gave them a run for their money.<br /></span><br />“It was a great game. We came in believing it was going to be a tough one. Dallas was going to give us a tough one, and they did,” Fanendo Adi told timbers.com.<br /><br />“We’re not surprised with what they came with, because we expected them to come very strong. <br /><br />“For us, it was to try and get a goal and push forward. When we got the second goal we knew it put us in the Cup.”<br /><br />Portland Timbers will take on Columbus Crew on December 6 in the MLS Cup final to be staged at MAPFRE Stadium, Columbus, Ohio.<br />
