Revealed - World Exclusive : Manchester City Almost Passed Up Chance To Sign Kelechi Iheanacho After Failing His Medical
Published: February 23, 2016Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Manchester City almost passed up the opportunity to sign ex-Golden Eaglet sensation Kelechi Iheanacho in December 2013.
For the first time ever, it can be revealed that the Taye Academy product failed a medical examination conducted in Spain after doctors discovered a serious injury he picked up at the Fifa Under 17s in the United Arab Emirates.
The Citizens brass were advised by specialists to take a gamble on the striker, stating that the ailment, a persistent groin injury, would be properly handled if the doctors instructions are followed and he is placed on a diet.
Kelechi Iheanacho’s injury did not require surgery, according to Manchester City’s doctors, but he was told to wear a cast during his rehabilitation.
At the start of his career with Manchester City, the 19-year-old continued to suffer a relapse of the injury and his availability for the Fifa Under 20 World Cup was seriously in doubt until he recovered days leading up to the start of the tourney in New Zealand.
The good news now is that the Manchester City number 72 is fully fit and can play four straight games without suffering a recurrence of the injury.
