Obafemi Martins Refuses To Set Himself Goal Target; Gets No 17 Shirt At Shanghai Shenhua
Published: February 27, 2016Ex-Seattle Sounders star Obafemi Martins will sport the number 17 shirt at Shanghai Greenland Shenhua, the Chinese Super League outfit announced during his presentation to the media and fans on Friday.
The jersey was last worn by Australia star Tim Cahill, who recently departed the club to sign for Hangzhou Greentown.
Obafemi Martins has refused to set himself a goal target for the upcoming season but has promised to assist Shanghai Greenland Shenhua achieve their goals.
“One can not say the exact number (of goals), but hopefully plenty, ” Obafemi Martins said during his unveiling.
“I will try to help the team reach their goals and wish the team and coaches can have a better luck in the new season.
“Shanghai is a beautiful city, I feel it is very good, so I can not wait to begin this journey, I will do my best to help the team.”
Martins has penned a 1+1 year contract with Shanghai Greenland Shenhua and will earn $6.6 million net in the first year of his deal.
